Studying Moral Competence in Adolescents



The problem of studying and measuring moral competence in adolescents is still relevant both for scientific researches and for practical work with children of that age. The significance of studying moral competence is determined, on the one hand, by the study object itself (that is the social and moral development of adolescents) and, on the other hand, by the necessity of working out the methodological ground of the instruments that can be used for studying the level of one's moral competence. This paper compares the main age specific psychological features of adolescence that influence the dynamics and results of the moral sphere development with the parameters of moral competence structure that are indicated in several significant works written at the end of the last century. According to that the article describes the necessary requirements for developing a method for moral competence assessment and analyses the possibility of applying modern video technologies to solving the tasks.
