Developmental Education at University: The Dialectical Structure of a Course as a Condition of Student Development

Abstract

The paper describes a project on developmental teaching in universities that has been developed within the structural/dialectical approach. According to this approach the aim of teaching is the development of dialectical thinking which enables one to analyse developmental phenomena by revealing contradictions within the explored subject. Basing on the experience in conducting positional seminars (one of the technologies used in structural/dialectical teaching) the author substantiates the necessity of structuring the studied subjects in a special way. This paper presents the concept of dialectically structured course material using the Experimental Psychology course as the example.
