Features of the Middle Status Adolescent Position in the System of School Classroom Relationship

Abstract

The results of the study of the relationships of middle status young adolescent in the pupil’s group are presented. The specific function of these pupils is addressed, which is seen in stabilizing the intra-group processes and establishing a favorable climate in a school classroom. The study involved 198 students from 5th and 6th grades in Moscow secondary schools, aged 10–12 years. The set of socio-psychological methods and techniques was used in the study: sociometry, self-sociometry, referentometry, self-referentometry, technique for determining the informal intra-group power structure in a contact community. The obtained results indicate the significant differences in position of adolescents with the middle status in the student group from those with other status categories. The study demonstrates that the group expectations of the adolescent schoolchildren are related to these middle status pupils.
