Mechanisms of Development of the Working Alliance in the Debut of the Consultative Process

The article presents the results of the research on the process of shaping the productive therapeutic relationship of the working alliance. The aim was to study the mechanisms and regularities of the formation of therapeutic relationship in the first stage of psychological counseling. The object of the study was the process of psychological counseling. The verbatim transcripts of the consultative process were the working material of the study. The quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis were used in the study. The results indicate that the core of the working alliance relationship in the first stage of counseling is development of the compatibility phenomenon. It is concluded that the formation of compatibility is the task of the first phase of consultation, from speed and completeness of the resolution of which the quality of the consultative process as a whole depends on. Based on the results of qualitative analysis the necessary and sufficient conditions for the formation of compatibility on the first stage of the consultative process were identified. The typology of productive and unproductive debuts in the consultative process is presented.
