Modern Cartoon Characters in Children Play and Toys

Abstract

This article is devoted to studying perception and understanding of modern cartoon films by children of preschool age who in our days spend a lot of time watching modern cartoon films. The way this phenomenon influences children’s state of mind and health, their feelings and understanding of the surrounding world worries various people now. The modern market of cartoon products for children was studied and preferences in a choice of cartoon films among parents and children, investigation of children’s games on plots of the cartoon films with toy characters from them were analyzed. Other aspects of this study are: 1) an attempt of the psychological analysis of the plots of modern and classical cartoon films and their perception by a preschool child; 2) psycho-pedagogical examination of toys-characters of a cartoon film; 3) a description of substantial characteristics of these cartoon characters. The results of a comparative research of characteristics of the cartoon films that promote deployment of a child’s full-value playing are presented. From the point of view of the author an important task is working out the psychological criteria evaluating the quality of media production for children which can give reference points to parents and experts in the field of choice of right production with positive effects on a child’s development.
