Psychological maladjustment in students of secondary and higher education: a comparative analysis

Abstract

To study the psychological maladjustment in students of secondary vocational and higher education, we carried out psychodiagnostic examination of 162 subjects enrolled in various departments in the humanities and technical disciplines, among them there were 64 students of secondary vocational education and 98 students of higher education. The average age of the students is 17 years. It was found that students of higher education compared to students of colleges, show higher level of emotional maladjustment symptoms. Level of psychological maladjustment in college students depends on the intensity of social stress. Only 3 % of those surveyed college students have social stress level in the normal range. The results of the survey indicate the need to develop differentiated models of aid to students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions in accordance with their social situation of development and severity of various symptoms of emotional maladjustment.
