Abstract

We present the results of a study of peer hero understanding in younger schoolchildren in epics children's fiction, and the possibility of forming this understanding in the analysis of literary works. We describe a model of classroom discussion with third grade students concerning logic and moral foundations of the peer character’s actions in the context of general concept of this literary work. It is shown that the developed special tasks are available to younger students, and they like to participate in organized discussions. We found that such exercises help to develop an understanding of the literature work content and of the peer hero literary image, and raise the level of gender tolerance in students while assessing the moral acts of the characters of the opposite sex.
