Abstract

The school faces today a serious problem: on the one hand, there are learning difficulties associated with increased requirements and sophistication of educational programs. On the other hand, there is a problem of constantly declining students’ health state which hinders the mastering of scientific knowledge. The traditional preventive medical approaches to maintaining and strengthening the children’s and adolescents’ health do not give the desired results. The article presents assessment of school’s health-preservative activities which should be carried out taking into account both formal and informal criteria. The formal criteria should help assess the degree of regularity and consistency of changes in the traditional education system in an effort to increase its health-preservative direction. The informal criteria are the characteristics of quality and efficiency of the existing educational system in terms of its health-preservative orientation. Such as: students’ daily life orientation on the socio-cultural content of health; the development of an internal picture of health in the majority of pupils and gaining the vitality as a systemic quality of personality.
