Abstract

The present material is a brief and informative report on the International conference "Life and work of Varlam Shalamov in the context of world literature and Soviet history" which took place in June, 2011 in Moscow and Vologda. The text presents the main ideas of key reports on plenary and breakout sessions, speeches at round tables, memories of the conference participants about V. T. Shalamov. Basic points of the main report of the conference, made by a member of RAS V. V. Ivanov, are presented in specific detail.
