Portrait of Preschool Childhood: Sociological and Psychological Mosaic

Abstract

This review analyzes a monograph called "Sociology of Preschool Childhood" pub- lished by a group of authors under the direction of Vladimir Sobkin, academician of the Russian Academy of Education. This research work demonstrates the specifics of the social situation of development of today's preschool children in Russia, including features of parent-child interactions in families with preschool children and parents' attitudes to preschool and school education. The monograph also reveals how kinder- garten teachers see their workplace and how they interact with parents of preschool children.
