Use of Digital Tools in Foreign Language Teaching
Abstract
In the current changes occurring in the education system, digital tools are given great importance for managing learning. Digital tools serve as an effective means of organizing educational activities. For foreign language classes, multimedia interactive digital learning materials are available. This article discusses the use of digital tools in foreign language teaching, including Web 2.0 generation technologies such as electronic publications, websites, multimedia applications, search engines, electronic dictionaries; news agencies, television and video; podcasts; and electronic library systems. The possibilities of didacticizing educational material with the help of digital tools are described. The significant role of application programs in foreign language teaching is noted, their advantages and usage possibilities are considered, and examples of their use are provided. It is pointed out that project-based learning shifts the main goal of students from merely performing and using digital exercises to creating materials for them, resulting in a digital product created independently. This approach is especially suitable for advanced-level classes or for training foreign language teachers.
