The Didactic Potential of Simple Animations in Teaching Primary School Students
Abstract
Insufficient efficiency of using simple digital resources by teachers is associated with the lack of development of their methodological support based on the analysis of pedagogical tasks in correlation with possible forms and types of students' activities. This article contains an example of such an analysis and its results for a simple animation of natural processes applicable in primary school lessons. Ten options for its possible use are given (commenting, comparison with real objects and processes, analysis of written text of voiceover, creation of own script, etc.), differing in methodology and possible results aimed at developing various abilities of students (attention, reflection, productive imagination, critical thinking, communication skills, reading literacy). It is assumed that the didactic potential of simple animations can be significantly higher than with simple viewing if the place of animation in the lesson is determined by the teacher based on consideration of possible types of students' activities. The need to compare an animated image of a natural process with reality during training is emphasized. The analysis given in the article can serve as a basis for developing methodological support for the use of simple animation for educational purposes.
