Optimization of interaction in the parent—teenager dyad as a means of correcting computer addiction

Context and relevance. The widespread use of computer technology has led to the emergence of addictions. Psychological characteristics of adolescents make them susceptible to addictive behavior. The role of parents is often reduced to formal control and implementation of social requirements in relation to adolescents. Unfortunately, most parents do not think about building relationships with their children, which affect the emergence of computer addictions. Analysis of the causes of adolescent abuse of computer games helps to identify techniques for optimizing the interaction of the teenager with his parents to increase the effectiveness of correction. Objective. To identify the possibility of correcting computer addiction in adolescents through optimization of interaction in the “parent—teenager” dyad. Hypothesis. Optimization of interaction in the “parent—teenager” dyad is an effective means of correcting computer addiction in adolescents. Methods and materials. The study involved 50 adolescents and their parents. Diagnostics of computer gaming addiction in adolescents was carried out using such methods as the test questionnaire of the degree of passion for computer games by A.V. Grishina, the questionnaire “Level of computer gaming addiction” by O.M. Vidova. Results. The analysis of the results allows us to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of methods for optimizing the interaction of parents with a teenager in solving the problem of correcting the addiction of teenagers to computer games. Conclusions. The study showed the effectiveness of optimizing the interaction in the parent—teenager dyad in solving the problem of leveling the addiction of teenagers to computer games. The use of methods by parents when interacting with teenagers that involve active listening as a skill for conducting a discussion; the use of the “I—position” as a constant way of communicating with a teenager and communication methods that take into account the peculiarities of the child's mental development, allows us to reduce the level of computer addiction of a teenager, as they ensure trusting relationships within the family, help create a safe space for the teenager at home.
