Abstract

Context and relevance. The article presents data from modern foreign studies devoted to the study of the quality of life of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases and psychological factors associated with them. The need for the study is due to the lack of scientific data in medical psychology in Russia on this problem, even though diagnostic and treatment methods are actively developing in medical science and the influence of psychological factors on the quality of life of these patients is obvious, since complex lifelong treatment is required. There are no methodological recommendations for providing psychological assistance to patients with this nosological group of diseases. Objective. Analyze modern foreign scientific literature on the problem of quality of life of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases and the psychological factors that determine it. Methods and materials. Analysis of modern foreign scientific literature published between 2016 and 2024 and posted in the world's leading electronic scientific libraries, search by keywords. Results. Established and analyzed are the main factors of quality of life of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. The influence of psychological factors is considered, namely: stress and other emotional states (depression and anxiety) and affective disorders, personality and characterological features, strategies and resources for psychological overcoming of stress (coping strategies). The general factors of quality of life are considered and analyzed: socio-psychological factors and interpersonal communication. It is shown that in total, all the listed factors significantly affect the quality of life and functioning of these patients, and they increase the level and structure of quality of life in inflammatory bowel diseases. Conclusions. Understanding the specifics of the course of the disease, the features of quality of life and psychological factors associated with it in inflammatory bowel diseases should be considered when drawing up an algorithm for providing psychological assistance in the process of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of these patients.
