Speech implications and description of human mental states
Abstract
The article is based upon the investigation of implicatures, that are used in the books of modern Russian and British writers. Moreover it is touched upon how interlocutors interpret speech intentions of each other. At the very beginning of the article two terms involved into the investigation are distinguished strictly. The first is "mental state" and the second is "conversational implicature". The basic idea is that the individual’s psyche can be transferred within his manner of speech. With help of examples from the texts the authors manage to go beyond the dialogical communication and appeal to those situationally meaningful sense, which are transmitted through the description and expression of human mental states.
