Abstract

Social orphanage in Russia has increased quite a lot over the past few years, which determines the relevance of its studying. The aim of the article is not so much to explain the reasons of such increase in social anomy, but to show the ways of its stagnation, to raise the question of developing all forms of fostering as the only way of solving problems concerning orphanage, because the integration and socialization of orphans can only be achieved through family upbringing. The article describes the conditions of a child's adaptation to a foster family, the problems that may arise, and the ways of their solving. To understand the effectiveness of foster family support services, the author gave questionnaires to children who had graduated from state orphanage institutions in Kostromskaya, Kirovskaya, Leningradskaya, and Bryanskaya regions (the total number of participants equaled 546). During 2004–2005 the author also monitored the level of anxiety in foster parents and foster children in the named regions and in Moscow (Yasenevo area). Basing on the research results, the model of interdepartmental support service for orphans and foster families was tested in regions.
