Some Issues of Motivation and Time Perspective of Orphaned Children from Orphanage

The article presents findings of empirical studies of motivation and future time perspective of adolescents and primary school aged children. The studies were conducted in different years and in different orphanages. With adolescents, the Motivational Induction Method (MIM) by J. Nuttin was applied. With primary school aged children, a version of identifying motivational preferences method was applied, but the results were processed and interpreted with the use of the same MIM code (code of the content analysis and the time code). The findings indicate significant differences between orphaned children and children nurtured in family both in the content of motivation (the strongest one between groups of junior scholars) and in the temporal reference of the motivational objects (specific to adolescents). Furthermore, the difference is analyzed between the data of 70–80's of the past century and those of the first decade of the current century.
