Research of developedness of intellectual operations of higher educational institutions students

The research, aimed at identification of the share of students who have not developed the level of intellectual operations necessary for education in a higher educational institution, was organized in order to justify the necessity of purposeful development of thinking of students of higher educational institutions during the first years of education for the quickest adaptation to the educational process of higher education and forming of a student as a subject of educational activity. The contribution presents the results of this research. The hypothesis was that there is a share of students of the first courses of higher educational institutions whose level of developedness of specific intellectual operations is below the norm. The author assumed that there is a relation between the choice of educational specialty and the size of share of students who have a low level of developedness of intellectual operations. In order to test the hypothesis the developedness of chosen intellectual operations was estimated: comparison, analysis, synthesis, generalization, abstraction. 101 students (27 boys and 74 girls) from 1st and 2nd courses of Vladimir higher educational institutions of different specialties and directions, took part in the research. The average age of the testees was 17.95 years. Russian adaptation of R. Amthauer’s method was used in the research. The author received data which shows that there is a share, not less than 15 %, of the students of first courses of higher educational institutions, whose level of developedness of specific intellectual operations is below the norm, and existence of this share does not depend on the specialty of the students. The size of this share and the average level of developedness of specific intellectual operations depend on the specialty.
