Abstract

The paper presents the basic ideas of the concept of mentality developed by the author. The space where components of mentality are juxtaposed is regarded as the psychological mental space. The paper analyzes various approaches to the phenomenon of the psychological space. Meanings and values are characterized as the coordinates of the mental space that indicate the limits of this space and the areas of juxtaposition for each generation as a bearer of certain mentality. The paper also provides the outcomes of the empirical study on the possible configurations of these coordinates in mentality of different generations (adolescents, youth, and retired persons) that was carried out using the technique of semantic differential.
