Обзорная статья посвящена современным исследованиям личностной черты «grit», которую выделила и описала профессор Пенсильванского университета А.Л. Дакворт. Устоявшегося перевода понятия на русский язык нет. Мы предлагаем вариант «настойчивость» в соответствии с концептуальным пониманием феномена и традицией описания настойчивости как личностной черты в отечественной психологии. Современные исследования показывают, что grit выступает в качестве надежного предиктора достижения высоких академических результатов и психологического благополучия. Однако иногда не только настойчивость, но и другие личностные черты объясняют успех; тогда возникают вопросы, в чем уникальность grit и чем она отличается от других предикторов. На материале ряда исследований доказывается специфика настойчивости и объясняется, почему иногда выводы относительно этого качества оказываются противоречивыми. В заключение отмечается, что настойчивость может быть важным ресурсом личности.
