Abstract

Context and relevance. Labor rehabilitation programs for adolescents in conflict with the law within the framework of a functional school largely rely on the personality traits of adolescents measured by the existential category of hardiness. However, at present there is no convincing evidence of an empirical relationship between the work attitudes that these programs are aimed at changing and hardiness among adolescents in conflict with the law. Objective. To determine the relationship between work attitudes and the hardiness of adolescents in conflict with the law. Hypotheses. There is a stable structure of employment motives among adolescents in conflict with the law. The structure of employment motives (work attitudes) is associated with the components of hardiness as a factor of social rehabilitation within the framework of a functional school. Methods and materials. The study involved 116 adolescents - students of special educational and correctional institutions (M = 15.39, SD = 1.27). Hardiness was assessed using the adapted short version of E.N. Osin and E.I. Rasskazova's method of S. Maddy. Work attitudes were measured using the author's formulations. To identify the stable structure of work attitudes, factor analysis was used using the minimum residual method with varimax rotation. Bartlett's metric was used to assess the suitability of variables for factor analysis. The relationship between the obtained factors and the components of the hardiness scale was measured using least squares regression. The quality of the resulting models was assessed by remembering the coefficient of determination. The control variables were age and financial well-being. Results. The study demonstrated that there is a significant statistical relationship between hardiness and work attitudes. Among work attitudes, two factors clearly stand out: material significance and interest in work. It is the first factor that is most strongly associated with hardiness indicators. Conclusions. It has been demonstrated that work rehabilitation aimed at changing work attitudes can influence the components of hardiness due to the relationship found between them. It has also been shown that among adolescents who have had work experience, materialistic pragmatic attitudes prevail, which makes work rehabilitation measures especially relevant for this group of adolescents.
