Трудности на пути к социальной зрелости

В обзоре избранных публикаций журнала «Down Syndrome Quarterly» раскрывается сущность проблем, затрудняющих взрослым людям с синдромом Дауна возможность интегрироваться в общество, и подчеркивается важность их понимания для разработки адекватных и эффективных методов сопровождения таких людей.

До середины прошлого века, пока людей с интеллектуальными нарушениями воспринимали в соответствии с однозначными установками (необучаемые, «вечные дети» и т. п.), к ним относились, как к детям: взрослых одевали, как детей, всю их жизнь организовывали, как жизнь детей. Благодаря научным исследованиям и достижениям практики эти установки стали постепенно меняться.
