Pilot study of cognitive abilities in children with Computerized Battery of General Cognitive Ability Tests

Abstract

The article provides a brief description of the authors developed a set of computer tests DIKIT-GCA developed by the author. The tests are aimed at assessing the general cognitive abilities of preschool and early school age. The results of a preliminary study using this set of children with typical development (27 children, aged 5-6), with mental retardation (16 children, aged 7 years), with a light (9 children, aged 11-15) and moderate (9 children, aged 13-16) mental retardation. In four out of eight subtests set DIKIT-GCA were obtained significant differences within the groups. These results indicate indicating the possibility of using computer-based testing in determining the severity and nature of cognitive processes in children.
