Одной из ключевых тем, обсуждаемых сегодня на образовательных форумах, является оценивание детского развития. Многообразие подходов к оценке развития свидетельствует о противоречивости имеющихся по настоящей проблематике данных. Один из вопросов, задаваемых сегодня научным сообществом, касается того, каким образом существующие средства оценки учитывают социальные и культурные различия в жизни детей.
