Self-Concept of Older Adolescents Prone to Auto-Aggressive Behavior

Abstract

The work is devoted to the study of the characteristics of the self-concept of older adolescents prone to auto-aggressive behavior. A study was conducted using the questionnaire “Auto- and het-ero-aggressions” by E.P. Ilyin among 150 adolescents aged 15-16 years living in the city of Gelendzhik. Based on the results of the study, a sample of 56 adolescents with a tendency to auto-aggressive behavior and 94 adolescents with a tendency to hetero-aggressive behavior was com-piled. Further, the study also used the following methods: “Studying the tendency of adolescents to suicidal behavior” by M.V. Gorskаya, methodology for studying self-attitude by S.R. Pantileev. The results of the study showed that the tendency to auto-aggression, despite the often unconscious nature of the manifestation, can influence the idea of one’s own “I”, the level of self-esteem and the tendency to suicidal behavior in of older adolescents.
